Ezomo IRIEKPEN

Iriekpen captained the FA Youth Cup-winning team of 1999 and was handed a one year contract just weeks after he was ready to quit football after knee problems. He would actually have made his debut at Old Trafford as a 16-year-old under Harry Redknapp had the referee not blown the final whistle as he was ready to come on. There seems little doubt that, but for injuries he would have followed his contemporaries into the first team on a regular basis.

Joined East London neighbours Leyton Orient, managed by former Hammer Paul Brush on a six-week loan. On 22 October 2002, he made his professional debut in the Football League Trophy against Peterborough United and scored the first goal of a 3–2 victory. He returned to the same league on loan at Cambridge United in March 2003, playing 13 games.

In June 2003, West Ham released him. Later joined Swansea City, Scunthorpe United, Bristol City and Hamilton Academical.

Born: Liverpool, November 1984

Position: Defender

Trialist:

West Ham rejected the opportunity to sign USA giant defender Andy Iro, who until recently featured in the MLS (Major League Soccer) spent a week on trial at Chadwell Heath but considered to be of sufficient quality to earn a permanent contract. Iro featured in the West Ham United development squad's friendly against Leyton Orient on 9 January 2012 - a game in which the Hammers were comfortably beaten 3-0. The 27-year-old Iro - a Liverpudlian by birth who has been in the US since 2004 and stands at an impressive 6'5" - later spent time on trial with Nottingham Forest.

Turned pro: 2008 (aged 24)

Previous clubs: Columbus Crew (2008-11), Toronto FC (2011).

Isaac went to South East Essex County Technical High School. Made his first appearance in the claret and blue for West Ham in the South East Counties League Division Two Cup game against Charlton Athletic on 6 September 1969, the Etham tie ended in favour of the Addicts 2-1. Ray scored his first goal when the Juniors overcame Chelsea at Chadwell Heath by 2-1 to gain their first victory in the Division II league tournament. The Chelsea side included seven apprentices, and our all-amateur XI played extremely well. The Hammers opened the scoring in the first minute with a goal by Isaac, and went further ahead after half-time through a penalty; the visitors did most of the attacking in the second half, but the Juniors held out until three minutes from time when the opposition reduced the arrears. The youngster was also on the scoresheet in the next game against Fulham which ended 3-3 also at the Hammers training ground.
