Trevor Brooking (Caretaker Manager)

Glenn Roeder suffered a brain tumour and was replaced by Trevor Brooking for the final three games of the season as Caretaker Manager.  Despite a late rally, West Ham United were relegated with a record number of 42 points. Glenn returned to work in July 2003, stating he that had "unfinished business".

After only four games into the new season Glenn Roeder was sacked after the result against Rotherham United at Millmoor. The West Ham United board for the second time in five months asked Trevor Brooking to step into the Caretaker Manager role at Upton Park while they waited for their preferred option Alan Pardew to become available.

Brooking gave the following three players their Hammers debuts.
